No. Automatic sliding gates use minimal power, no more than a few dollars per year in electricity. Modern motors are highly efficient and only draw power when opening or closing. There’s no ongoing “standby” drain. For even lower running costs, solar-powered options are available. Maintenance costs are also low and regular servicing will help keep everything running smoothly.

An automatic sliding gate will typically need about 1.5 times your driveway width along your fence line to slide open. For example, if your driveway opening is 4 metres wide, you’ll need roughly 6 metres of clear fence space to one side for the gate to retract fully. Bi-parting sliding gates may also be an option if space is limited

A professionally installed automatic sliding gate system should last 10-15 years or more. However, in our coastal environment – salt air, humidity and storms can rapidly take their toll, making a professional installation with quality components critical.
